Card counting – is the act of strategically keeping a mental tally of which cards have been thrown out of a deck of cards, as opposed to which one’s have not. This is done to gain the advantage by assessing the probability odds of which cards might be dealt in games such as ‘Blackjack’.
Counting cards have been one of the nemesis for which casino’s continue to attempt to eliminate. It is not illegal to count cards mentally, but to use any technology, or outside assistance is considered illegal and is not without consequence. There are laws, casino regulations, not to mention angry opposing players that all attempt to deter fraudulent game play. But there are always motive for some to cheat where there is profit in doing so and thus there will also always be new means and technologies to continue the mundane ‘Cat and Mouse’ game of trying to catch the card counter and for the card counter to try and elude detection.
