Poker Hand Ranks – Poker hand ranks are the standards by which determine the quality of cards held from best to worst. The quality of hand determines through probability factoring, whether to and, or how much to wager.
The hands are, from best to worst, as follows:
Royal Flush – A, K, Q, J, 10 of the same suit.
Straight Flush – Five consecutive cards of the same suit.
Four of a kind – Is four cards of the same face value.
Full House – Is three of a kind in tandem with a pair.
Flush – Consists of all five cards being the same suit.
Straight – Is where all five cards are the same suit, but are not consecutive in face value.
Three of a kind – Is where three cards share the same face value.
Two Pair – Is where there are two pairs in a hand of cards.
Pair – Is where two cards share the same face value.
High Card – Is the highest card in the hand of cards. Example: A, Q, K, J, 9 the A is the highest-ranking card in the hand and therefore is the ‘high card’.
