Casino Lingo

A bookmaking business that accepts wagers on horse racing, individual and team sports and in some countries financial, political or even television awards show. A sportsbook can operate online, over the telephone or at a physical location, such as a casino. Bookmaking shops, typically a small retail store catering to sports betters are wide spread in the UK, Ireland and to a lesser extent throughout western europe.  Sportsbooks are illegal in the United States, except those licensed and operating in Nevada although Off-Track Betting on horseracing is legal in some US states, most notably New York.
