poker
The most popular variety of poker of the 21st century and is play in both online pokerrooms and land based poker rooms and casinos. Texas Hold'em is played at an oblong table usually seating 8 to 10 players and a dealer. Texas Hold'em is also played short handed tables (4 or 6 players) and Heads-up tables (2 players), but these are found mainly online. Poker generally and Texas Hold'em specifically have no house advantage in the game, nor does the house play in the game. Pokerrooms both online and land-based charge a fee, called a Rake, on each hand or in some cases, by the hour or half hour increment.
Play begins by dealing the first of 2 cards to each player around the table starting with the player just to left of the dealer button(the Button). Once each player has their 2 cards, the player to the left of the Button can make bet or check, which is to pass to the next player. There is then a round of betting starting with the player to the left of the Big Blind and moves clockwise around the table. Following the first round of betting, 3 cards are turned up in the center of the table, this is known as the Flop after which a second round of betting follows. Next the 4th common card, the Turn, is added to the 3 flop cards and a third round of betting ensues. The 5th and final community card, the River, is turned over and added to the 4 cards in the center of the table and a fourth and final round of betting determines a winner.
A popular poker game, where players build 7 card hands with 2 unique cards and 5 shared cards.
